Juventus History

Juventus Football Club (from Latin[3] iuventus: youth, IPA: [ju.ˈvɛn.tus]), commonly referred to as simply Juventus or Juve, is a football club from Turin, Italy. With the exception of one season,[4] the club has spent its entire history in the top flight of Italian football.[5] After winning Serie B, Juventus were promoted back to Serie A for the 2007–08 season.

Juventus is the most successful[4] team in the history of Italian football. Overall, Juventus have won 51 official trophies, more than any other Italian team; 40 in Italy, which is also a record, and 11 in European and world competitions. Juventus is the third most successful club from Europe[6] and fifth in the world[6] with the most international titles recognized by UEFA[7] and FIFA.

In 1985, Juventus, the only team in the world to have won all international cups and championships[7] (which includes all official European competitions[7] and the Intercontinental Champions Clubs' Cup[8]), became the first club in the history of European football to have won all three Major European trophies[9]. The torinese team is also one of the G-14’s founding members, a group that represents eighteen of the largest and most prestigious[10] European football clubs.

At present, Juventus play their home games at the Stadio Olimpico di Torino while their full-time stadium, Stadio delle Alpi is having structural changes and will not be completed for use until 2008.[2][11]
